Cocoa-Nutty Banana Bites

So, for those of you who don’t know me or even for some of you who do, I am not sure if I have mentioned in any of my previous articles that I pretty much follow Paleo or Primal nutrition. It’s also referred to as “Cave Man Diet” and “Hunter Gatherer”. Whatever you want to call it, that’s what I stick to 90 to 95% of the time. I mean, really, isn’t that what makes sense for an “Earth Girl”?!

I do sometimes have a cheat. Usually three or four times per week. That really depends on what I am currently doing at the time. If I am training for an event, (photo shoot, triathlon, etc.) I may only have a cheat once every three weeks. Anyway, whatever way you choose to eat, who doesn’t like something that’s both delicious AND healthy?

That’s what I am going to share with you! These sweet little treats are delicious, all natural and healthy.

I will give you the recipe for one serving or one banana but you can adjust if you want to make more to share.

Ingredients

  • 1 organic banana
  • 2 tsp organic coconut oil
  • 1 tsp organic cocoa powder
  • appx. 4 raw organic nuts of your choice

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Take one banana and slice in into about one inch pieces. Place them on parchment paper on a plate.
  2. Mix 2 tsp organic coconut oil (I use Dr. Bronner’s) with 1 tsp organic cocoa powder. I used some Hershey’s brand that I am trying to use up. If the coconut oil needs thinned out so its liquid form, just heat it up a bit.
  3. Drizzle over banana slices, dividing evening between all chunks. Top with crushed nuts of your choice! I have used raw pecans, raw unsweetened coconut, and in the photo I used raw black walnuts.
  4. Place them (plate and all) in the freezer for 15 minutes to set up into the perfect healthy yummy little dessert! 15 minutes will make the chocolate set up nicely while still having a soft banana or you can also place them for eight hours or so in the freezer for a solid banana bite. Either way, they are heavenly and NO sugar! Only the sweet natural sugar from the banana.

ENJOY!!
