Maple Walnut Granola

*THIS RECIPE IS DAIRY FREE, GLUTEN FREE AND SUGAR FREE!!

A quick, easy and fun snack to make is homemade granola! When you make your own, you know just what is going into it! Most store bought granola’s are going to have lots of unhealthy ingredients like sugar, high fructose corn syrups, preservatives and much more junk. There are SO many different ways to make it! The possibilities are endless. I know at our house we chose whole food ingredients and whatever we are feeling hungry for at the time. Sometimes we add dried fruits or nuts and other times just seeds. This is a tried and true favorite for us!

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Slow Cook Organic Rolled Oats
  • 1 Cup Raw Organic Walnuts
  • 1/2 Cup Pure Real Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Cup Organic Coconut Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Grated Fresh Organic Nutmeg

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Mix all of your ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. You can use your hand or a spoon. Be sure to mix well. Pour your mixture onto a cookie sheet in a single layer. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Stir a couple different times during the baking. Remove from oven when granola is lightly browned and toasted. Let it sit on the pan for at least 30 minutes after baking. This will allow it time to harden into crunchy chunks!

When cooled, store in an airtight container! Will stay fresh for several weeks! Not that it ever last that long at our house!

*A couple fun ways that we use granola at home is just to eat it plain as a snack, top some Greek yogurt, top some ice cream, eat it with a fresh sliced apple or pear, or pour some almond or coconut milk over it!!
