What exactly is bone broth? What’s so great about it? Is it the same thing that I can buy in the store? Why would I want to drink it?

I am going to answer all of that and more!

Bone broth is an amazing and easy healing tonic for the body that is extremely underutilized in the United States. Bone broth, or stock is a mineral rich infusion made from boiling bones from healthy animals. Add in some vegetables, herbs and seasonings and you have a dreamy and healthy tonic. Our ancestors made and consumed broth regularly and its still widely used around the world for its healing properties.

Bone broth can be used in many ways. For amazing culinary taste, its right at the top of the list. It can be used for making soups, stews, gravies, sauces, sautéing vegetables and more. Another not as common but very important way to use it is to drink 1 cup of it every day. Its a great way to start out the day. It is very beneficial for the digestive system. Its great to add this into your fall and winter routine as it builds the immune system. Bone broth can be drank in times of illness. It is easy to digest and will shorten the duration of a cold and flu due to its healing properties. It has also been proven for healing leaky gut. It is great for reducing joint pain and inflammation due to high levels of glucosamine. It stimulates the growth of collagen in the body which leads to beautiful hair, skin and nails. It has also been known to help eliminate cellulite as it supports smooth connective tissue. Its full of amino acid glycine which leads to good sleep and calming the mind. It also helps your bodies bones grow strong and repair due to high levels of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. It plays a big role in digestive health and proper functioning of the nervous system and in wound healing.

Studies have also proven that it is extremely beneficial in promoting mental alertness, improving memory, mood boosting and reducing stress! Great brain health! It has been proven to decrease the size of potential blockages in the heart and surrounding vessels by releasing cholesterol buildup into the bloodstream. It also aids in breaking down protein for use in creating new healthy muscle cells. No wonder our ancestors were so healthy! Making your own bone broth can be a simple process. It is much more beneficial to the body than store bought and so much cheaper. Most store bought broths have MSG’s and other harmful ingredients in them.
